Laban Bengalee Boys’Higher Secondary School, Shillong happens to be not only one of the premier educational institutions of Shillong in particular but also of the North-East in general. From its cradle to maturity the school has grown in strength and today proudly stands as a Higher Secondary School affiliated to the Meghalaya Board of School Education.

Hence, the school, being the perfect balance of tradition and modernity has a well equipped Computer laboratory with a dedicated team of experts, ever-ready to help the students in their stride towards the future.

Aims and Objectives of the School

Admission Procedure

Application for admission on prescribed forms, will be accepted immediately after the announcement of the Annual Examination Result and Board Examination Result. Each application must be accompanied by :-

i. An attested copy of mark sheet of the last Examination.
ii. Two passport size photographs of students

PLEASE NOTE: Original Transfer Certificate must be submitted while taking admission.

School Attendance

Attendance of a student must not be below 75% during a session. The school authority reserves the right to delete the names of the students from the administration register, who are found to be irregular.

School Fees

Fees will be charged for 12 months for the Secondary and Higher Secondary Courses Admission fees, Tuition Fees, Session fees and Library caution money (non-refundable) are to be paid at the time of admission. The monthly tuition fees are to be paid on or before 7th of each month or any other date prescribed by the school authorities. If the fees is paid after 15th of a particular month then a penalty of Rs. 10.00 will be charged in that month and Rs. 20.00 will be charged on each of the subsequent months.

Optional Subjects: Additional English, Hindi, Bengali (CHOOSE ANY ONE OF THE THREE) .

COMMERCE

Compulsory Subjects: English, Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies,Entrepreneurship.

Optional Subjects: Additional English, Hindi, Bengali, Computer, Mathematics(FOR CANDIDATES SECURING MORE THAN 50% MARKS IN MATHEMATICS AT THE S.S.L.C. EXAMINATION)

ARTS

Compulsory Subjects: English, Political Science,Sociology, Physiology, Additional English / Hindi / Bengali(CHOOSE ANY ONE)

Optional Subjects: Economics, Informatics Practices, Elective English, Elective Bengali, Mathematics (CHOOSE ANY ONE FROM THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS)

General Norms

Students are required to attend classes in School Uniform. Any sort of indecent behaviour or breach of school discipline is considered a serious offence.

Students are not allowed to create any social media group/account using School’s full name or even short name or even the School Logo without the permission from the School Authority. If anyone is found to do so, legal action may be initiated against the student as this act would come under cyber crime. The School Authority may even issue rustication order for such student / students.

Fees once paid is not refundable.

Students wishing to take Transfer Certificate during the year has to clear all School dues upto the end of the session.

The School Uniform consist of white shirt with the School logo, dark grey trouser, bottle green sweater with two golden strips, bottle green blazer with two golden stipes, neck tie, plain grey socks, black liberty shoes.

All terms and conditions set forth in this Prospectus including fees, etc., are liable to be changed from year to year. Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School has a long standing reputation, where performance in Science and Science related competitions are concerned. Many a times countless numbers of boys have made the school proud by winning prizes at different Science related competitions both at the State and National level. To keep pace with the zeal of the teachers, and also to cater to the needs of the Higher Secondary students the school possesses some of the best laboratories in all the four branches of basic science, namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer, a large school auditorium and a digital library. Having come this far in its strive towards academic excellence, the school still believes that much more still remains to be done. There are yet thousands of miles to be conquered, for the path of knowledge is everlasting and eternal.

• The school is the only one in the whole state which has brought the concept of Science Seminar for school students which gathers students from the greater Shillong and its surrounding areas and this seminar is an annual event of the school, held with the permission from the Inspector of Schools.
